Privacy

Last updated 30 September 2026

Transit 3D is a free map. There are no accounts, no cookies and no advertising trackers. This page explains the little data that is used and where it goes.

Your location

The map only asks for your location when you tap a button that needs it, such as “Stations near me”, “Use my location” in the journey planner, or live walking directions. Your browser asks your permission first, and you can say no.

Searches

When you search for a place or address, what you type (and the area of the map you’re looking at, to find nearby matches first) is sent to the services that find it: Photon (by komoot, using OpenStreetMap data), with Nominatim as a backup, and postcodes.io for UK postcodes. Station names are searched on your device.

Other services the map uses

To show live information and draw the map, your browser connects to these services, which will see your IP address as any website does:

Saved on your device

Your recent searches and your map detail setting are saved in your browser so they’re there next time. They never leave your device. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

Visitor statistics

We count visits with a privacy-friendly analytics service that uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you. It records things like which pages are visited, which site you came from, your country, the type of device, and general actions such as opening a station or planning a journey. We can’t see who you are, and the data is never sold or used for advertising.

Links to other sites

Links to Instagram and Stan Store take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
